BRAZIL RETAIN GOLD AT THE TOKYO OLYMPICS | #BRAZIL | #TOKYO2020

BRAZIL RETAIN GOLD AT THE TOKYO OLYMPICS | #BRAZIL | #TOKYO2020

Brazil retained their Olympic gold in men's football with an overtime goal to beat Spain 2-1 on Saturday (August 8th).

After winning their first Olympic gold medal at Rio 2016, the Samba Legion repeated their success at Yokohama International Stadium, where their national team won the 2002 World Cup.

Brazil missed the prospect in the first half to gain the advantage. Spain's goalkeeper Unai Simon knocked out Matheus Cunha on the pitch as he tried to clear an incoming shot, and the referee awarded Brazil a penalty.

Everton in front of Richarlison, who came to the final because the game's top scorer with 5 targets, took over but threw the ball over the bar.

Brazil found their goal in the extra time of the first half when a floating ball fell on the pitch and Cunha took it over in front of the Spanish defenders to put it in line.

Spain scored the equalizer in 61 minutes. Captain Mikel Oyarzabal grabbed a magnificent cross to hammer home with an unstoppable full volley strike.

Bryan Gil came close to scoring the profit in the 88th minute for Spain, but his very effective strike from outside the field hit the crossbar.

As the game went into overtime, it was Brazil who discovered the profitable goal. Malcom, who came out of the substitution, dominated the Spain defender to direct an aerial shot and shoot the ball past the Spain goalkeeper in the 108th minute.

Brazil maintained the standings until the final whistle and won the game 2-1.

In Friday's bronze medal game, Mexico beat Japan 3-1 to a resounding victory.
