The year 1957 witnessed the first derby between Raja and Wydad , when the green was a newcomer, it was founded in 1949 and is still in the period of establishing itself among the national clubs at the time. The two teams met at Philip Stadium, large fans filled the stands, most of them behind Wydad, and contrary to expectations, Raja managed to win with a goal without a response, from a powerful shot by the player Mohamed Laashir, nicknamed “Al-Wajdi” without the strength of Wydad goalkeeper “Mohamed Rifki” to object, to give victory to Raja in the derby. Between the two teams, before winning three goals without a response in the return match that took place in the same season.
