The finals of the second edition of the UEFA Nations League will feature Italy, Spain, France and Belgium. The first edition was won by Portugal in 2019 on their own ground. The final will be played in October 2021. As the winner of Group A1, Italy will host the tournament. The official nomination will take place on 3 December at the meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee.
A draw will take place on December 3 to determine the pairs of semi-finals. The first semi-final will be played on October 6, followed by the second semi-final on October 7. The matches for third place and the final will be played on October 10. The final will feature three of the FIFA World Cup winners from 2006 to 2010. and 2018. Belgium are the only team not to have won the World Cup, but are currently ranked number one in the world.
Romelu Lukaku scored twice in Belgium's 4-2 win over Denmark to secure a place in the Nations League finals. Italy advanced to the final after beating Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 with Andrea Belotti and Domenico Berardi finding the back of the net. France were the first team to advance to the final after finishing first in their group ahead of defending champions Sweden, Croatia and Portugal. Spain followed after finishing at the top of their group which also included Germany, Ukraine and Switzerland. Spain beat Germany 6-0 to secure their place in the final. The loss was Germany’s worst loss in competitive matches.
With the Nations League finals in October 2021, that means matches take place after the start of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup (March 2021) and the European Championship (June / July 2021).
