MONEYBALL Paris Saint-Germain wages revealed: Neymar earns more than Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe while Mauro Icardi commands a higher salary than Sergio Ramos
Neymar and Lionel Messi recently bore the full force of the Paris Saint-Germain fans’ frustrations after being booed earlier this month.
And feelings of adoration for the former Barcelona teammates are unlikely to improve following the release of the club’s highest earners.
But it is noteworthy that Neymar – who swapped Barcelona for PSG to get out of Messi’s shadow – now commands more than him in France.
The Brazilian is taking home £3.4million-per-month at PSG, despite only featuring in 14 of the side’s 29 Ligue 1 games this season.
Messi is just behind with £2.8m in his bank account every four weeks as a reward for his two Ligue 1 goals with Mbappe in third on £1.8m.
The Frenchman has been offered a new contract by PSG that would likely put him ahead of the duo but is due to leave when his contract expires in June, with Real touted as his next destination.
Marquinhos and Marco Veratti make up the rest of the top five while Gini Wijnaldum is among the other names following his move from Liverpool.
Keylor Navas is also still making more than Gianluigi Donnarumma, despite the latter usurping him as PSG’s first choice keeper in Europe.
The rankings
1) Neymar – £3.4m
2) Lionel Messi – £2.8m
